In fact, they might be right under your nose. Try this list of tips for starters.

1. GOOGLE SEARCH FOR LOCAL TALENT

If your client’s website features a local business or nonprofit, hiring a writer who gets the local culture can be a huge payoff.

This isn’t necessarily a rule of thumb, but someone who knows the lay of the land could add some local flavor to your content development.

So before you cast your net across the web, try a Google search for writers in your (or your client’s) geographical area.

2. COPYBLOGGER

If you’re not sure where to look across the vastness of the internet, Copyblogger is a good place to start.

Copyblogger is home to dozens of qualified copywriters and content strategists who have undergone a rigorous certification process.

This isn’t to say you’ll definitely find what you need here.

But with so many talented marketers at Copyblogger with varied experience, this is a great site to check out.

3. LINKEDIN

Even if you don’t have a 1st-degree writing connection in your LinkedIn network, there’s a good chance you have a 2nd.

Take a stroll through the LinkedIn circles of designers, developers, or clients you’ve collaborated with in the past. You might be pleasantly surprised.

4. INDUSTRY CONTACTS

Sometimes the best option is a writer who’s worked in the niche you’re working in.

Whatever it is: financial, education, tech, construction, cosmetics, try reaching out to anyone in your network who’s in the industry.

Chances are, they know a content writer (or of one) who’s worked on a project eerily similar to yours.

5. FREELANCE PLATFORMS

You could find just what you need for content development on a platform like UpWork or Fiverr.

If you have a specific task in mind, a fly-by-night freelancer might be a quick and easy solution for bite-sized tasks.

But if you’re looking to forge a more collaborative partnership with your writer, that might be harder to find in a cold lead.
